“The arts significantly boost student achievement, reduce discipline problems, and increase the odds students will go on to graduate from college... arts education is essential for building innovative thinkers who will be our nation’s leaders for tomorrow.” -Arne Duncan, former U.S. Secretary of Education
On Cue, a new non-profit program located in Omaha, Nebraska, aims to involve underprivileged students in the performing arts with a three fold approach designed to benefit both the students and the school community.
LIFE SKILLS and LEARNING
Students participating in On Cue will develop social and academic skills through a variety of opportunities.
--- Weekly drama instruction during the school day.
--- An all-school theatrical performance.
--- Cross curriculum linking the drama program with other subjects.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Encouraging the community to support the school and the student performers is a vital part of the mission of On Cue.
--- Parents and alumni will be invited to assist the students with the design elements of the performance.
--- Advertisements will be used to publicize the performance to the broader community.
--- Personal invitations will be sent to community leaders, encouraging them to attend the performance.
FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES
On Cue is a cost free program for the schools we support. Any money raised on the day of the performance is donated back to the school to be used at their discretion. On Cue will work to create a fundraising plan that best suits each individual school. Some fundraising opportunities may include:
--- A playbill with local advertisements
--- A silent auction before the performance
--- Concessions and ticket sales
On Cue is launching this year, and we could not be more excited! Our first performance will be on May 3. To learn more about the program, please contact our director at director@oncueomaha.com
